History of Mail-Gard
| 1988 | In 1988 Mail-Gard's then parent company, Communication Concepts Inc., wrote the first print-to-mail recovery plan for a local utility company, by providing a back up print and mail facility for the company's monthly statements in the event of a disruption to the utility company's own production environment. |
|---|---|
| 1996 | After researching the recovery industry and developing a marketing plan, Mail-Gard was established in 1996 as
the recovery industry's first, stand alone, print-to-mail recovery provider.
As Mail-Gard's client base grew to include Fortune 500 insurance and financial firms, so did Mail-Gard's service offering, adding additional communications, print and insert power to their dedicated recovery facility located in Warminster, PA. |
| 2003 | In 2003 Mail-Gard was acquired by Transcontinental, one of the largest printing companies in North America. |
| 2005 | The hurricane season of 2005 presented the opportunity to recovery 4 simultaneous customer declarations with durations from 1 week to 6 months. |
| 2008 | In the fall of 2008 a second dedicated recovery facility was opened in Fort Worth, TX. This additional recovery facility doubles Mail-Gard print and insert recovery capacity to nearly 3 million envelopes per day. |
Our Family of Companies
Mail-Gard's parent company, Transcontinental Inc., was founded in 1976 and is one of the largest printers in North America. Transcontinental's rise to the top of the ranks of the North American media industry has been characterized by consistent growth, achieved through strategic acquisitions, and complemented by steady internal development.
In 2003, Transcontinental Direct USA Inc., was created through the acquisition of two major U.S. direct marketing companies and has become an industry-leading direct marketing service provider. Through the years, we've maintained a consistent focus on the development of our strategic market niches. By concentrating on books, catalogs, magazines, newspaper and commercial as well as retail and direct marketing, we've been able to grow from a company with $2.9 Million in revenue to a company with revenue of nearly $2 Billion! Mail-Gard and Transcontinental Direct are the result of the continued growth strategy of its parent company, Transcontinental Inc.
